Tamarac State of the City address by Mayor Michelle Gomez. {City of Tamarac}
Dear Neighbors,
Welcome to September! Whether your summer included travel, visits with family and friends, or just relaxing at the beach or by the pool, I hope you had a great one!
Did you know that one out of four homeless men and women in our country are veterans? Tamarac’s Veterans Affairs Committee is now collecting donations of toiletries, snacks and other items for homeless veterans. Donations are being accepted by appointment at the Parks & Recreation building, 6001 Nob Hill Road, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please call (954) 597-3621 for an appointment, and please give generously to help these heroes!
You can start the month off with a night of musical fun at Karaoke Night at The View at Colony West, 6850 NW 88th Avenue, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3! Come and enjoy yourself with the karaoke masters from Sounds of Stardom, chef’s specials, cocktails, and great company in a beautiful venue. No musical talent is required, but reservations are! If you’re expecting, or just became a mom, please check out our new low-impact water fitness classes, specifically tailored to be safe and beneficial for expectant moms and those in postpartum recovery. Just bring a swimsuit, towel and water bottle. It’s also a great way to connect with other moms! Children 3 and under are welcome.
Most of us think of coyotes as animals that live out West, but they are also present in our area. If you’d like more information on their behavior, their role in our ecosystem, and how to coexist with them and prevent or resolve any potential conflicts, please tune in to a presentation hosted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9. Please visit www.myfwc.com/conservation/you-conserve/wildlife/coyotes/ for more information, and for the link to click to join the presentation.
