A Tamarac man was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at an undressed man who came to his girlfriend’s apartment for a planned sexual encounter.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. on Friday, August 22, after a caller reported being threatened at gunpoint inside a Tamarac apartment.

The victim told deputies he had been speaking online with a woman for about two weeks and was invited to her house for a presumed sexual encounter. Once inside, the victim told deputies that a man later identified as Ralph Deonta Roberson, 34, of Tamarac, came out of a bedroom and began yelling at him.

The victim alleged that Roberson grabbed him by the neck, pointed a small black handgun at his head, and forced him out of the apartment while demanding he delete the woman’s name from Instagram.

Deputies also interviewed the woman, who gave conflicting statements. She admitted she invited the victim over for sex but said she later changed her mind. She stated that Roberson, her boyfriend, came out of the bedroom and pushed the victim out of the apartment, but denied that he ever used a gun.

Records show Roberson told deputies he was asleep when he heard voices and found the victim in the living room with his genitals exposed. He claimed he ordered the man to leave, but denied pointing a gun at him.

Roberson later admitted he owned a firearm despite being subject to an active risk protection order and two domestic violence cases that prohibited him from possessing weapons.

A search of the apartment uncovered a handgun and ammunition. The victim positively identified the recovered firearm as the weapon Roberson allegedly used in the confrontation.

Roberson was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $21,000 bond.
