Santa is gearing up for a week of holiday fun during Tamarac’s Holly Jolly Holiday Series, featuring everything from a citywide community ride to a festive Holiday Hound Paw-ty. Events take place from Saturday, December 6, through Saturday, December 13.
Santa’s Community Ride is making a festive return as the City prepares to host a citywide holiday ride featuring Santa Claus, City dignitaries, and representatives from Tamarac Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, December 6, at 2 p.m., Santa and his entourage will travel through Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4, spreading holiday cheer throughout the community. Residents are encouraged to step outside and give Santa a joyful wave as he passes by.
Santa’s route can be tracked in real-time by visiting Tamarac.me/Santa. The ride concludes at Caporella Park, 5200 Prospect Road, where the annual Holiday Lighting Celebration begins at 6:30 p.m.
Holiday Lighting Celebration features musical performances by renowned artists Myron Butler, Orale Johnson and Javis Mays. Residents can join elected officials and Santa Claus as they light the City’s official tree, Menorah and Kinara. Families can look forward to a festive atmosphere with bounce houses, food trucks and holiday lights for everyone to enjoy. Please note that on-site event parking will not be available. Guests are encouraged to use free shuttle transportation from Redeeming Word, 2800 Prospect Road, to Caporella Park, beginning at 6 p.m. Event admission is free. More holly jolly fun awaits at Winter Wonderland on Friday, December 12, at 6 p.m. at Tamarac Park, 7501 N. University Drive. Guests can stroll through dazzling holiday lights and themed photo backdrops, enjoy festive bites from on-site food trucks and experience enchanting entertainment for the entire family. Santa’s elves-in-training can participate in face painting, arts and crafts and inflatable rides. Images of the 2024 Winter Wonderland are available online. Before returning to the North Pole, Santa will make a special stop at Gary B Jones Park for People and Pups on Saturday, December 13, at 10 a.m. for the City’s annual Paws with Claus Holiday Paw-Ty. Residents and their four-legged friends can enjoy a morning filled with pet-friendly activities, including vendor booths, play areas and photo opportunities with Santa. The celebration will conclude with the Holiday Hound Contest, where the top three winners will receive festive baskets filled with pet-friendly goodies. The Humane Society of Broward County will also be on-site for adoptions, with all fees waived, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, a microchip and a Broward County pet license tag. In observance of Christmas Eve on Wednesday, December 24 and Christmas Day on Thursday, December 25, City of Tamarac offices will be closed.
