There were 81,136 COVID-19 tests conducted in the State of Florida on January 31, and out of those, 9,691 came back positive. Of the positive test results, only 5,624 were that of Floridians finding out they had tested positive for the first time, a 2021 low, and the least new cases Florida has seen in months.

Data from the past 24 hours reveals the lowest amount of COVID-19 tests conducted in a single day so far this year.

While a reduction in new cases is a good sign, the positivity rate for January 31 was 11.94-percent, still far higher than the 5-percent mark the CDC recommends the state reach before declaring the outbreak under control.

In Tamarac, there were 4,594 positive COVID-19 cases — an increase of 100 positive cases since January 29.

Statewide in Florida, there have been 1,727,107 positive cases to date. The average age to contract the virus in Broward County on January 31 was 39-years-old.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 26,685 deaths to date in Florida and a total of 72,454 patients hospitalized due to the virus.
