Tamarac Crime Update: Man Uses Apple AirTag to Find His Stolen Car

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through Oct. 10, 2022.

Animal Bite

NW 108th Ter.

An animal bite was reported on 10/04/2022. The reporting person stated two dogs attacked her and her dog when she was walking on the sidewalk. Reporting person’s dog sustained a puncture wound on the lower back and was still slightly bleeding.

Auto Theft

Rock Island Rd.

A 26-year-old male was the victim of auto theft on 10/04/2022. Honda Accord was stolen from the apartment complex. 

Burglary Residence

Treehouse Ln.

A person was the victim of a Burglary Residence on 10/04/2022—approximately $7,000 of interior damage to the apartment.

Incontro Italian Cuisine Steakhouse

Fraud

NW 49th Ave.

A 76-year-old male was the victim of Fraud on 10/06/2022. The other victim advised unknown person(s) that he was scammed into completing a wire transfer for $19,800 to an unknown person(s), falsely claiming to work for McAfee. Tot. Est. Loss: $19,800.

Recovered Auto

N. University Dr.

A 59-year-old male made a Recovered Auto report on 10/10/2022. He used an Apple AirTag to track down his stolen vehicle. The vehicle was released to the owner.

Theft

Lime Bay Blvd.

A 73-year-old female was the victim of Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts on 10/05/2022. An unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from her vehicle. Tot. Est. Loss: $500.

W. McNab Rd.

A business was the victim of theft on 10/10/2022. Numerous Apple products were stolen. Tot. Est. Loss: $40,000.

Arrests 

Nelson, Basil Terral, 30, was arrested on charges of Attempted Felony Murder on Hampton Hills Blvd on 10/08/2022.

Phillips, Sheena Latrice, 29, was arrested on charges of Larc-petit Theft 1st Degree 100 Less 750 Dols on W Commercial Blvd on 10/04/2022.

Wilson-Gilbert, Keondra Shanice, 27, was arrested on charges of Larc-petit Theft 1st Degree 100 Less 750 Dols on W Commercial Blvd on 10/04/2022.

Candamo, Cesar A., 40, was arrested on charges of Warrant: Felony Criminal Mischief <$1,000 on Nw 49th Ave/w Commercial Blvd on 10/07/2022.
