Tamarac is moving toward setting its budget and millage rate for the upcoming year.
On June 22, the commission and city leaders held the Tamarac Budget Workshop. The adopted fiscal year 2025/26 city budget was $294,157,462 across all funds, including a general fund budget of $114,370,279, according to city information.
The proposed fiscal year 2026/27 total city budget for all funds is $234,035,599, including a general fund budget of $104,586,586. The proposed millage rate for fiscal year 2026/2027 is 7.0000 mils, unchanged from the adopted millage rate for fiscal year 2025/2026, according to city information.
Based on the Broward County Property Appraiser’s June 1 estimates, the median taxable value of a Tamarac single-family home is $202,379. At the proposed millage rate of 7.0000 mills, the city portion of the property tax would be approximately $1,416.65 annually. The median taxable value of a Tamarac condominium is $92,110. At the proposed millage rate, the city portion of the property tax would be approximately $644.77 annually, according to city information.
Based on preliminary estimates from the Broward County Property Appraiser and current homesteaded property data, Tamarac could experience a reduction in property tax revenues of approximately $8 million in fiscal year 2027/28 and approximately $16 million in fiscal year 2028/29 if the proposed constitutional amendment is approved by voters. These estimates are preliminary and subject to change as additional information becomes available, according to city information.
The first public hearing on the fiscal year 2026/2027 proposed budget is scheduled for September 14 at 5:05 p.m. The second and final public hearing is scheduled for September 24 at 5:05 p.m., according to city information.
