Tamarac Weekly Crime Update January 15, 2019 1

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes which occurred in Tamarac from January 8 through January 15.

Robbery

Canterbury Lane – Shaker Village
On January 8 at 11:05 a.m., an unknown suspect punched the victim in the mouth and took her wallet, while walking southbound at The Commons. The suspect fled towards the southeast direction of the community. A wallet containing an ID and social security card was stolen.


Auto theft

5600 block of Coco Palm Drive The Woodlands
On January 8, between 8:30 p.m. and 11:59 pm, a white 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was stolen from the driveway of the owner.

7700 block of Banyan Terrace Woodmont

On January 7, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the victim reported her silver 2003 4D Jaguar stolen.

2500 block of NW 53rd Street,

On January 1,4 between 6:31 a.m. and 1:52 p.m., an unknown person stole the victim’s car from his driveway. There were no signs of forced entry.

Elvin

2900 block of NW 48th Street

On January 14, between 6:10 p.m. and 7:27 p.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle from her residence in Tamarac. This incident is related to a burglary residence on December 28.

Found property

5900 block of North Plum Bay Pkwy

On January 11 at 8:52 a.m., a man discovered a .380 Ruger Semi-Automatic Handgun lying in the middle of the roadway while walking. The weapon was not registered or reported stolen.

Fraud – Impersonation
6701 Hiatus Rd – City Furniture
Between December 20 at 2:07 p.m. and December 27 at 12:00 a.m., an unknown person(s) impersonated an employee of City Furniture to defraud the company of $1,600.

Criminal Mischief
7900 block of North Colony Circle
Between January 10 at 9:00 p.m. and January 11 at 10:00 a.m., the victim’s 2012 BMW was vandalized overnight while parked outside his residence.

Shooting / Unlawful Discharge
8191 W. Commercial Blvd – Intown Suites

There was a verbal dispute between two men that escalated into a shooting. One of them sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his left thigh.

Burglary Conveyance
7501 NW 57th Street – The Shoppes on University Plaza
On January 14 between 10:30 a.m. and 12:19 p.m., an unknown subject(s) used an object to smash a vehicle window to make entry. No witnesses or video surveillance was available. The unknown subject(s) stole a wallet with five credit cards and a driver’s license.

Theft
7050 North University Drive – Aldi’s Supermarket
On January 14 at 4:00 p.m., the victim reported that her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart.

Driving Under The Influence

8800 block of West McNab Road 
On  January 13, between 6:11 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., the subject was arrested for driving under the influence. After further investigation, it was discovered that the subject was in possession of an open alcoholic container, a firearm with several types of ammunition and prescription medication.
