Seasons may be changing, but Broward County continues to have plenty to do. From our libraries to parks, you can truly do it all.
This month, Broward Parks will host nature walks and even twilight hiking tours. If you are looking for that next good book or even free help with your tax return, be sure to check out Broward Libraries! Visit Broward.org for all the events happening throughout Broward County and District 3!
April is a great month to get outside and explore all that Broward has to offer. It is also Earth Month, and there will be many events hosted throughout the County at parks and different locations. In District 3, we will host EarthFest at the Sawgrass Nature Center, which is in the Coral Springs Sports Complex. The event will take place on April 22 from 9 am-12 pm. It will feature nature displays, community garden exhibits, raffles, and a plant giveaway. Best of all, the event is free. I hope you will come out and enjoy this great opportunity for the whole family.
Anchors away! Broward County will welcome our nation’s sailors from April 23 – 30 at Port Everglades. Ships representing the United States Navy, Coast Guard, and a group from the United States Marine Corps will all be in attendance. Ship tours, concerts with the Navy Band of the Southeast, and even a ship versus ship Olympics competition will all happen during this great week that honors our service members’ dedication and service to our country. In March, Broward County held its annual strategic planning retreat. Priorities ranged across the spectrum from affordable housing to public safety and everything in between. The Broward County Commission also made a commitment to work hand in hand with the cities in areas of mutual concern. My focus has always been how Broward County can create sustained economic growth for all citizens and provide the best public safety possible. Working together is the best way for all goals to be accomplished, and I look forward to working with District 3 cities as we continue to grow and make Broward County the place to be.
Finally, I would like to wish all who celebrate a Happy Easter, Passover, and Ramadan. Celebrating these holidays shows the diversity of our great community. Happy holidays to all.
