Wally’s House of Flavors was ordered shut down after inspectors found 12 violations, including no running water and an expired restaurant license.
According to a Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspection report, Wally’s House of Flavors, located at 4711 Northwest 14th Street in Lauderhill, was closed on February 3 following the inspection.
Inspectors reported that the restaurant was operating without potable running water, noting that none was available throughout the restaurant. Despite the lack of water, inspectors observed the operator cooking food and a customer entering the business.
The report also states that the restaurant was operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license that lapsed in December, even as the establishment remained open and serving food to the public.
Additional violations included the certified food manager or person in charge lacking knowledge of employee health policies and requirements; no proof of food manager certification for the manager in charge, which was listed as a repeat violation; and no proof of required state-approved employee training for any employees.
Inspectors further noted that a handwashing sink in the kitchen was being used for purposes other than handwashing, with dishes observed inside the sink, and that ready-to-eat, time and temperature control for safety food prepared onsite and held more than 24 hours was not properly date marked, including macaroni and cheese in a reach-in cooler that had been made two days earlier without a date mark before the operator marked it during the inspection.
The restaurant must correct all violations and pass a follow-up inspection before reopening.
