Woman Shot in Thigh After Telling Sister “Just Shoot Me”

A woman faces assault with a deadly weapon charges after allegedly shooting her sister.

On October 23, officers from the Lauderhill Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a residence located near the 420 block of Northwest 33rd Avenue.

According to LPD records, upon arrival, officers found a female victim outside the residence, suffering from a severe gunshot wound to her right thigh. She was immediately transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.

According to the initial investigation, witnesses and the victim indicated the altercation involved two sisters, with the shooting suspect identified as Sarah Porter-Bishop, 37, of Lauderhill.

The victim reportedly told law enforcement that the incident began as a verbal argument over text messages exchanged between her and her sister’s husband. The dispute escalated outside the residence, where Sarah Porter-Bishop opened the door to a black car and retrieved a pink and black Glock handgun.

The victim stated that Porter-Bishop pointed the firearm at her, demanding she leave the location or be shot. The victim admitted to taunting her sister by saying, “Just shoot me,” which was followed by Porter-Bishop firing a shot into her right thigh.

According to the report, after shooting her sister, Porter-Bishop laughed and allegedly said, “I told you I was going to shoot you.”

Medical records noted in the report show the bullet reportedly entered through the front of the victim’s thigh and exited near her lower buttocks.

Porter-Bishop, after shooting her sister, placed the firearm inside the residence, called 911, and remained on the scene until officers arrived. During police questioning, she admitted to pointing the gun at her sister but claimed the shooting was accidental.

Arrest records show Porter-Bishop told officers that she had only intended to fire a warning shot to scare her sister away and did not mean to pull the trigger.

A pink and black Glock firearm, matching the description provided, was later found by officers on a couch inside the residence.

Porter-Bishop was detained at the scene and transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Building, where she was interviewed. She was later formally arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
