Congratulations to the 2022 High School Valedictorians and Salutatorians

Congratulations to all of the 2022 valedictorians and salutatorians in Northwest Broward. These Broward County Public Schools students are graduating with exceptional grades and accomplishments before heading off to college.

J.P. Taravella High School

Alexander Klein

Valedictorian Alexander Klein of Coral Springs graduated with a 5.363 GPA.  He was the Senior Class President, Rho Kappa President, QuestBridge Finalist, JPT Swim, and Water Polo Captain.

Klein will attend the University of Florida where he plans to study computer science.

 

 

Muhammad Ali

Salutatorian Muhammad Ali lives in Tamarac and graduated with a 5.327 GPA.

His accomplishments include Mu Alpha Theta honor society, Wrestling Team, and Young Muslims.

Klein will attend the University of Florida where he will study Biomedical Engineering-Pre Med Track.

 

Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy

Isabella Yeung

Valedictorian Isabella Yeung is from Tamarac and has a 5.5479 GPA.  She is a National Merit Scholarship finalist, a Sunshine State Scholar award winner, and just recently accepted the AAUW Weston Stem.

She will be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she’ll be studying Earth Science and Environmental Engineering.

 

 

Roxana Socorro

Salutatorian Roxana Socorro lives in North Lauderdale and has a 5.5238 GPA.

Graduating with 85 college credits, she said she worked to get to the top of her class.

Yeung will be attending the University of Florida where she’ll study Business Administration and Prelaw, then Law School.

 

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

Zachary Weissman

Valedictorian Zachary Weissman of Parkland graduated with a 5.51 GPA.  His accomplishments include the Science Olympiad Competition; Ninja Warriors Competition; EMF program; Calculus with UF; DECA Competition. 

Weissman will be attending Georgia Tech with a major in computer science.

 

 

Nicholas Melamed

Salutatorian Nicholas Melamed of Parkland graduated with a 5.46 GPA.

He was part of varsity Wrestling; Debate Team, Mu Alpa Theta, went to the DECA States and Nationals and tutored Precalculus.

Melamed will be attending the University of Florida where he’ll study Business Management and Administration. 

Coral Glades High School

Elena Vazquez

Valedictorian Elena Vazquez is a Coral Springs resident who graduated with a 5.6043 GPA.

She is a Silver Knight nominee;  NHS VP, Mu Alpha Theta Secretary, Science NHS V.P. of Academics, National Art Honor Society Activities Chair, Education Rocks Sponsor, AICE and AP Capstone Diploma Recipient, and Varsity water polo & soccer all-star.

She will be attending the University of Georgia where she’ll be studying Engineering.

 

Zachary Tenn Yuk

Salutatorian Zachary Tenn Yuk lives in Coral Springs and graduated with a 5.5250 GPA.

His accomplishments include being a BRACE Cadet, Co-Founder of SenYOUR Year, Event Lead for Relay For Life of Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate, and Coconut Creek, and Arts For The Future Scholarship Recipient.

Yuk will be attending the University of Florida where he’ll study Economics.

 

Coconut Creek High School

Tai Sanh Nguyen

Valedictorian Tai Sanh Nguyen is from Margate and graduated with a 5.36 GPA.

He is a QuestBridge Finalist & Scholar 2021, Software Engineer Intern at Broward County’s Office of Service and Quality, Engineer Intern at the Museum of Discovery, and Science & was in the Business Professionals of America Nationals and States Competitions.

Nguyen is heading to Princeton University where he will be studying Engineering in Computer Science.

 

Claudia Garita Johnson

Salutatorian Claudia Garita Johnson lives in Lauderhill and graduated with a 4.95 GPA.

A graduate of the Practical Nursing program at Atlantic Technical College, She completed dual enrollment courses at Broward College. Member of the Spanish National Honors Society, Key Club, and Creek Technical Academy. 

Johnson will attend Broward College and Florida Atlantic University where she will study for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Monarch High School

Britney Galindo

Valedictorian Britney Galindo lives in Coconut Creek and graduated with a 5.48 GPA.

She was the President of the Science National Honor Society, Vice-President of the Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Treasurer, National Honor Society, and the National English Honor Society.

Galindo will attend Georgetown University to study International Politics.

 

Julie Fontan

Salutatorian  Julie Fontan of Coconut Creek graduated with a 4.95 GPA.

She was vice-president of the Class of 2022, vice-president of the National English Honor Society, and was in the Science National Honor Society, and DECA.

Fontan heads to the University of Florida to study Chemistry and a Pre Health Track.

Coral Springs High School 

Jason Gregory

Valedictorian Jason Gregory of Coral Springs graduated with a 5.42 GPA.

He won Nationals at BPA and was a Swim Team Captain.

Gregory is heading to the University of Florida where he’ll study Computer Science.

 

 

Logan Viera

Salutatorian Logan Viera of Coral Springs graduated with a 5.37 GPA.

He is the president of the Florida Association of Student Council and alternate student advisor to the Broward County School Board.

Viera will attend Emory University where he’ll study Philosophy and Law.

 

 

 

Miranda Andstat

Salutatorian Miranda Anstett of Coral Springs also has a 5.37 GPA.

She was an AP Scholar with Distinction and president of BPA.

Anstett will attend the University of Florida where she’ll study Computer Science.
