Collectors, decorators, and vintage enthusiasts will have a rare opportunity to explore decades of American glass and pottery craftsmanship when the South Florida Depression Glass Club hosts its 52nd annual glass and pottery Show.
The South Florida Depression Glass Club Vintage American Glass and Pottery Show & Sale will take place on February 21–22, at the Tamarac Community Center, featuring vintage glass and pottery from local and national dealers, early buying hours, door prizes, glass repair, free parking, and admission starting at $8. Parking is free.
According to Amy Boches, the club’s publicity chair, first-time attendees are often surprised by the show’s scope and the diversity of pieces on display. From elegant etched goblets and mid-century barware to colorful punch bowls, ceramic cookie jars, and glass animals, the event brings together knowledgeable national and local dealers who are eager to educate newcomers and seasoned collectors alike.
“One of the most exciting additions this year is welcoming John Walk, author of several books on Fenton Glass, who will be selling and signing his books at the show,” Boches tells Tamarac Talk, adding. “We also have fun extras like hourly door prizes and five different raffles, including a grand prize featuring 18 pieces of the same pattern highlighted in our educational display – so one lucky winner leaves with a collection already started.”
The educational display will showcase the Lotus pattern produced by Westmoreland Glass Co. between 1921 and 1970. The exhibit highlights the pattern’s wide range of pieces, colors, and decorative styles, which Boches described as especially fitting for Florida’s tropical aesthetic.
Another popular feature returning this year is on-site glass repair. Attendees are encouraged to bring glassware with minor chips or damage, drop it off upon arrival, and continue shopping while repairs are completed.
Boches shares that this year’s event is designed to appeal to a broad audience, from novice collectors and gift-givers to experienced enthusiasts and anyone curious about antique and vintage design.
“If you love antique and vintage items – or just want to learn more – this show truly has something for everyone.”
Admission is $9 and valid for both days, with early buying available Saturday from 9–10 a.m. for $15. A $1-off coupon is available here. For more information, contact mapiercefla@gmail.com.
