On January 24, there were 109,008 COVID-19 tests conducted in the State of Florida, out of those, 13,864 returned positive, and 8,607 were new cases.

This is the lowest COVID-19 cases Florida has seen since last Sunday, January 17, when the state recorded over 7,840. In addition to the decrease in cases, the number of tests that were conducted on Sunday was the lowest since last weekend, as well.

Although testing reduced, as it does most weekends, the positivity rate did not follow, remaining at 12.72-percent, a rate that is higher than Florida has recorded on many weekdays as of late.

There were 4,381 positive COVID-19 cases in the City of Coral Springs — an increase of 96 positive cases since January 22.

Statewide in Florida, there have been 1,658,169 positive COVID-19 cases to date. Florida is one of only a handful of states in the U.S. to have recorded over 1 million COVID-19 cases, with only California and Texas registering the most cases in the country.

The average age to contract COVID-19 in Broward County on January 24 was 40-years-old. For months, the average age of a person contracting COVID-19 in Florida has hovered at or around 40-years-old.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 25,446 deaths to date in Florida due to COVID-19 and a total of 70,346 patients hospitalized due to the virus.
