The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has announced a Gun Safety Class to enhance community safety and prevent child-related firearm-related accidents.
This Gun Safety event takes place on February 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Tamarac Recreation Center, 7501 North University Drive. Aimed at families with firearms in their homes, the class is designed to foster a safer environment for everyone, especially children.
The course is specifically targeted at children between the ages of 8-14, requiring the attendance of parents alongside their children. Having the children in attendance is an approach that will emphasize the importance of family involvement in learning and practicing gun safety measures, showing the extreme gravity and responsibility that comes with handling a firearm. Â
The class will cover crucial topics, including best practices for securing and storing firearms and fundamental firearm safety principles.
There is limited seating for this potentially life-saving class. Deputy Jennifer Marion can be reached for more information at 954-247-6016.
