Ygremerley Murat {BSO}
A North Lauderdale man who allegedly extorted a teenage girl for nude photos was arrested Tuesday, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the agency’s Internet Crimes Against Children detectives arrested Ygremerley Murat, 20, on charges of extortion and solicitation of a child using a computer or device.
On Tuesday morning, detectives said they served a search warrant at Murat’s residence and found several videos of underage girls involved in sexual acts. Following the discovery of the material, detectives said Murat confessed to multiple crimes.
Murat was arrested on charges of extortion and solicitation of a child using a computer or device.
He was being held on a $35,000 bond at the Broward Main Jail on Wednesday, according to court records.
The BSO investigation began in December, when ICAC detectives received a tip about a person who was soliciting nude photos from a 14-year-old girl, as well as extorting the victim through social media.
The investigation led detectives to Murat, according to BSO.
Detectives said they obtained evidence that Murat began commenting on the victim’s posts and offering her compliments. Murray eventually asked for nude photos, which she sent him, authorities said.
After sending the photos, the victim began receiving threatening direct messages from Murat demanding more sexually explicit photos, according to detectives.
Murat allegedly threatened to post the girl’s photos on social media if she did not comply, authorities said.
The victim stopped communicating with Murat and notified her mother, according to detectives.
This investigation into Murat is ongoing, and detectives have expressed concern that there may be additional victims.
