Man Arrested After Hitting Woman With Car After Rejected Sexual Advances 4

A man is facing felony charges after authorities say he intentionally struck a woman with his car after she and a friend refused to have sex with him.

According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest records, Jacques Edmond, 27, of Lauderdale Lakes, was arrested on June 6 after deputies responded to a suspicious incident near the 6100 block of Pine Tree Lane.

Records show the victims, two females who had been hanging out at a community pool, claim the incident began after they arrived at a residence in which Edmond had also been invited.

The victim told deputies that during the night, Edmond allegedly asked the women if they would engage in sexual activity. When both declined, a verbal argument ensued. The situation escalated when the two women left the home, and Edmond followed them outside.

Investigators say Edmond entered his vehicle and attempted to hit one of the women as he drove away. Although she was not struck during the initial encounter, Edmond left the scene but returned shortly after realizing he had left his cellphone behind.

Upon returning, Edmond allegedly saw one of the women in the parking lot and intentionally drove his vehicle toward her, striking her legs as she attempted to avoid being hit.

Deputies say Edmond admitted to the sequence of events, confirming that he had intentionally driven toward the victim out of anger.

Edmond was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Broward County Main Jail and later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
