The City of Tamarac is embarking on a comprehensive plan update to shape the city’s future development over the next 20 years by providing a long-range planning policy direction.
The comprehensive plan is vital for long-term planning and zoning initiatives that guide future land use and infrastructure decisions. It incorporates extensive data and analyses, such as population projections, infrastructure performance, and inventories of public facilities. The updated plan will serve as the foundation for zoning codes, enabling the implementation of the city’s vision.
District 1
To ensure the comprehensive plan reflects the community’s needs and desires, the city is hosting its final public input workshop in District 1.
Led by Mayor Michelle J. Gomez and Vice Mayor Marlon Bolton, the workshop will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, at the Bermuda Club at 6299 NW 57 Street.
During the workshop, residents can drop notes in the comment box, have face-to-face discussions with city staff, and participate in community investment exercises. Submit questions and comments ahead of time to ComprehensivePlan@Tamarac.Org.
The previous major update occurred between 2007 and 2009, with subsequent changes addressing specific development areas. The 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update seeks to reorganize the current plan around long-term goals and make it more accessible online.
These workshops provide an opportunity for residents, elected officials, advisory boards, and city staff to actively participate in shaping the future of Tamarac.
Multi-Modal Transportation Connectivity Master Plan
In addition to the comprehensive plan update, the city is developing a Multi-Modal Transportation Connectivity Master Plan to address current and future transportation needs.
This plan will focus on enhancing various transportation modes, including vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, transit, and multi-use paths, to improve connectivity and safety and eliminate traffic-related incidents.
