A terrified dog left inside a dumpster now has a foster family, while the Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating the events that led to the despicable act.
The pup was found on November 5 at the 5700 block of University Drive in Tamarac when good samaritan, Hernando Delgado, sprang into action following a distress call about an abandoned animal in a dumpster.
Delgado reported that on Sunday around 1:32 p.m., a Toyota Truck was seen backing into a spot near the dumpster at La Granja restaurant, and the driver left the dog behind, along with a sealed bag of dog food.
Michelle Reichler with Saving Sage Pet Rescue said “Dulce” now has a foster family, which due to security purposes, remains unidentified.
“After many days of growling and not letting anyone touch her, the dog is absolutely thriving,” she said.
According to BSO, detectives with the Special Victims Unit continue investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. However, no arrests have been made as of yet.
