Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida Opens Registration for 2025 Summer Camp

The Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida are welcoming girls of all ages to unplug and embrace the outdoors this summer at Camp Welaka in Tequesta, with registration now open for the 2025 camp season.

Spanning 640 acres of preserved woodlands, Camp Welaka offers a setting where girls from kindergarten through 12th grade can connect with nature, build confidence, and create lasting friendships. This year’s lineup includes three signature programs designed to appeal to a wide range of campers, and no prior Girl Scout experience is required to join.

Resident Camp, open to girls entering kindergarten through 12th grade, runs in three sessions from June 13 through July 17. Campers stay overnight and participate in traditional outdoor activities, such as swimming, archery, hiking, canoeing, and themed events — all designed to nurture independence and leadership.

Day Camp, offered from June 23 to 27 and July 21 to 25, provides a non-overnight experience for girls in kindergarten through 5th grade. Activities include archery, slingshots, pool time, paddling, hiking, and arts and crafts, making it an ideal introduction to camp life for younger girls.

Camp 2gether, a unique weekend program from June 6 to 8, allows girls to attend with a trusted adult. Designed for campers from kindergarten through 12th grade, this program blends family bonding with traditional overnight camp adventures.

Lisa Johnson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida, emphasized the importance of giving girls a place to thrive beyond screens and everyday stress.

“Our summer camps at Camp Welaka are designed to give every girl a safe, supportive space where she can unplug, build confidence, and connect with others,” Johnson said. “As evidenced in our recent State of Florida Girl Report, more than half of high school girls regularly feel sad or hopeless, and screen time is at an all-time high. Camp offers something different — real friendships, outdoor adventures, and the chance to discover their strengths. You don’t have to be a Girl Scout to attend, but after a week at camp, most girls are excited to become one.”
