The Humane Society of Broward County is calling all dog lovers to meet Buddy, a charming two-year-old Australian cattle dog with impeccable manners.
Due to his owner’s extensive travel, Buddy has found himself in need of a new forever home.
Known for their intelligence and high energy, cattle dogs like Buddy thrive in active households. His previous owner describes him as non-destructive, crate-free, and highly observant when needing to go outside.
Buddy is well-versed in commands such as sit, stay, and shake, and he has a particular fondness for tennis balls and treat-dispensing durable toys. While he may initially be shy around new faces, he quickly warms up and is eager for adventures. Buddy is accustomed to being off furniture, gets along well with other dogs, and is good with children aged four and up. However, he has not lived with cats before.
Roxy
In addition to Buddy, the shelter is also home to the adorable 13-week-old kitten, Roxy.
Roxy and her siblings were found in a tree after being left in a bag outside the shelter when it was closed. Thankfully, all the kittens were rescued and are now safe, receiving plenty of care and attention. Roxy, with her stunning tiger-striped coat, would love a cat tree to climb and an array of toys to play with. She is eagerly awaiting a family to call her own.
Prospective adopters can meet Buddy (ID 684898), Roxy (ID 685074), or any other pets by visiting the Humane Society of Broward County’s website at www.humanebroward.com and completing a pre-adoption application.
The adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m., and the shelter is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. For inquiries, call 954-989-3977 ext. 6.
According to the Humane Society, the shelter is closed on the Fourth of July. Pet owners are urged to keep their pets safe, as more pets go missing on this holiday than any other day of the year.
For those unable to adopt but still wanting to help, the shelter is in need of dog biscuits.
