Tamarac residents looking to get active can join Mayor Michelle J. Gomez for “Running on Tamarac,” a free, community-focused 5K run and fitness session at Tephford Park on Saturday, August 9.
“I am looking forward to participating in a free and positive community event before school starts. We will do various activities to encourage fitness,” said Gomez.
The participants will run/walk from the park down the road to Southgate and Pine Island, and then return up the road with a small loop at the park, for a 3.1-mile route. A Power Circuit fitness session will follow this. People will participate in a total-body cardio session to strengthen and tone their bodies. No weights will be used, according to Gomez.
It will be a fun and fitness-oriented event with no awards. There will be water, snacks, and possibly some music, according to Gomez.
Tephford Park is located at 10003 Southgate Boulevard. The event will begin at 7:00 a.m. with stretching, and the run/walk will start at 7:30 a.m. The Power Circuit exercise session will follow this.
