Lauderhill Police have apprehended a trio of men accused of orchestrating an armed home invasion robbery, investigators say, that took place at an apartment complex earlier this Summer.
According to an LPD arrest affidavit, Jeffrey Delva, 35, of Lauderhill, Raymond Burgess, 43, and Sherod Knight, 33, of Lauderhill, were identified as three of four suspects accused of storming into a Lauderhill apartment on July 15 and robbing a resident while armed with handguns.
Police say the group acted together with a woman who allegedly knocked on the victim’s door to lure her into opening it, at which point the men rushed inside, held the victim at gunpoint, and demanded cash.
Investigators say the group left with electronics, personal items, and a purse before fleeing the scene.
Surveillance video from the apartment complex, combined with photo lineups and automated facial recognition technology, led detectives to identify the three men, including Knight, who is listed as homeless and was known as a witness in a recent homicide case.
Knight, who was taken into custody earlier, reportedly confirmed Delva’s identity during questioning, telling investigators he had known him for 13 years and recognized him as “Ziggy,” one of the masked men captured on camera.
The report notes the name of the female involved in the robbery, but there is no record of her arrest at this time.
All three men were arrested on separate occasions and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
