A new Chabad program that aims to bring creativity, connection, and Jewish pride to local children will launch this month in Tamarac.
The Jewish Kids Craft Club, hosted by the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac, will kick off on Sunday, September 14, and run monthly on Sundays throughout the school year, with the last meeting scheduled for May 3, 2026.
Each gathering, held from 3:30 to 5 p.m., will feature a different hands-on craft led by a local instructor and be designed to give children an opportunity to create something meaningful to take home.
Projects are themed around Jewish holidays and values, and every gathering will include a pizza dinner for participating kids.
At the Sept. 14 kickoff event, local artist Leslie Weisberg will guide children in designing and decorating their own honey dish — the perfect centerpiece for dipping apples in honey for the upcoming Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah, organizers said.
“It’s the kind of project that not only sparks creativity, but also brings the holiday right into the home,” said Goldy Silberberg, who directs Chabad of Tamarac’s youth division.
“This club is about more than just making crafts,” added Rabbi Kopel Silberberg of Chabad of Tamarac. “It’s about giving children a space to be creative, make friends, and connect with their Jewish identity in a fun and memorable way.”
The program is for kids ages 3 through 11. Children ages 12 and up are encouraged to join as volunteers. Community service hours are available.
Participation is $15 per event or $90 for a full-year membership.
The Jewish Kids Craft Club will meet monthly at Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac, 8100 N. University Dr.
