Dear Neighbors,
Welcome to July! I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful summer, especially in this South Florida heat! As we celebrate our nation’s 250th Anniversary of our Independence, I hope you’ll join us at our All-American Celebration on July 4th (more information below) and take pride in the Freedoms we enjoy, and respect all who have served and continue to serve in protecting our rights!
Speaking of rights – THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND CONFIDENCE IN ME! I am humbled to share that I will remain YOUR Mayor for another term as, I qualified for the November 2026 election unopposed. I am grateful and looking forward to another wonderful four (4) years serving you!
Before we jump into the fun, here are two important items:
1) Please remember to celebrate safely and responsibly, and that not every being likes loud noises. The use of illegal fireworks before or after Independence Day, or outside of our City’s Noise Ordinances, can be dangerous and distressing for our neighbors, especially combat veterans, individuals with medical conditions, pets, and wildlife. Please be mindful of those around you and report the illegal use of fireworks to BSO’s non-emergency line at 954-764-4357.
2) Venezuela’s massive earthquake has brought unimaginable devastation to families across the country — especially in Caracas and La Guaira, where so many are facing loss, displacement, and uncertainty. Our community stands in solidarity with everyone affected.
Here’s how you can help — There will be collection boxes available at Tamarac Community Center, Tamarac Park, and City Hall during the hours of operation for collecting items from now until July 31. The list is long – baby formula, diapers, canned and non-perishable food, water, pet food and supplies, work gloves, industrial sponges, flashlights, batteries, etc. Please see the flyer for an additional list of items needed.
Now to our Calendar of Events –
Looking forward to seeing you for a fantastic 4th of July All-American Celebration on Saturday, July 4th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Tamarac Sports Complex (9901 NW 77th St)! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and patriotic spirit for an evening of live music by Extasy, bounce houses, fireworks, vendors, merchants, and plenty of red, white, and blue! Admission is free, and the fireworks display is always a wonderful way to end the evening together as a community. (Please make sure to check our city’s programming and social media for updates on event logistics.)
World Cup excitement is getting hotter than our weather for soccer fans! If you can’t make it to Miami, Colony West and I have you covered with two more exciting World Cup Watch Parties at Colony West, 6850 NW 88th Avenue. Even if your favorite team isn’t playing, come enjoy the excitement, food, drinks and community fun. After all, it is always more fun to cheer together! Speaking of community, I am proud to announce that on Thursday, July 9th, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Hispanic Heritage Chamber of Commerce (HHCC) will host its annual Progresando 2026: Financial Wellness summit at the Tamarac Community Center (8601 W Commercial Blvd). This event is designed for business owners, executives, and visionary entrepreneurs looking to expand operations and build a lasting legacy in South Florida. As we move through the fun, it’s important that we also take care of ourselves. The University of Miami Health System will be providing free cancer screenings on Monday, July 13th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center. Screenings for cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, Hepatitis C, and general health will be offered at no cost. The Tamarac Historical Society presents a three‑part Speaker Series for 2026 you won’t want to miss! This month we’re celebrating Florida’s rich history with storytelling and music from Chris Kahl on Wednesday, July 29th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center (8601 W Commercial Blvd.) Seats for “A Musical Journey Through Florida” are free** — just reserve and join us! On Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the South Florida Donor Network will host a free Kidney Health Awareness Event at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (2650 Sistrunk Blvd) in Fort Lauderdale. Additional Safety Reminders
As hurricane season continues, please remember that early planning and preparation are the key to staying safe! Please follow the steps below, and be sure to check out the Emergency Management page on the city’s website for more important safety tips, and links to more information:
- Have an evacuation plan and an emergency to-go bag (including all medications for you and your pets)
- If you or someone in your household has a disability, make additional support arrangements.
- Stock up on essential supplies: water, medications, flashlights, batteries, pet food, and other necessities.
- Sign up for emergency alerts (Subscribe to Tamarac’s Code Red Emergency Alert System at www.Tamarac.org/AlertCenter).

- Shop local at the Tamarac Community Farmer’s Market every Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Tamarac’s Veterans Park (8501 N. University Dr.)
- Food Truck Fridays with music and games continues the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month. Bring your family and appetites to the Tamarac Village Amphitheater (9090 NW. 57 St.) between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
- If you or someone you know is in need, please contact Tamarac’s Social Services department at 954-597-3626 or go to the website: Tamarac.org/SocialServices.
