The fire alarm went off at the Tamarac Community Center early Saturday morning,
According to Tamarac Battalion Chief Rafael Droz, around 4:00 a.m., a small fire in the ceramic room occurred. However, the sprinkler systems immediately went into action, extinguishing it.
By the time firefighters arrived, they had found a lot of water and steam from the sprinkler systems, contained to only the one room.
Workers began the clean-up process to make sure there wasn’t any further damage, and the alarm and sprinkler vendor put the system back into service.
Droz said because the door to the room was kept closed, prevented the fire from spreading.
He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
