Families in Tamarac can help students prepare for the new school year through Commissioner Kicia Daniel’s Back to School Haircuts & Hairdos program, which will provide free vouchers for haircuts and hairstyles to eligible students.
Families may pick up vouchers at Tamarac City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Ave., Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while supplies last.
The distribution will continue through Aug. 31 or until all vouchers have been claimed.
The program offers vouchers valued at $30 for boys’ haircuts and $50 for girls’ hairstyles. Vouchers are valid only at participating salons and barbershops, with a list of participating businesses provided when vouchers are distributed.
To receive a voucher, parents or guardians must visit City Hall during distribution hours, complete a brief registration form, and receive a numbered voucher. Families can then schedule an appointment with one of the participating salons or barbershops.
The program is available to elementary, middle and high school students. Households are limited to three vouchers, with one voucher allowed per eligible child.
