Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through May 18.
Aggravated Battery
7201 N University Dr,
On May 17, a suspect attacked two nurses in the baker act unit, striking one in the face several times, and biting a piece of the other’s right ear off.
Burglary Conveyance
6900 N University Dr. – CVS
On May 13, a delayed burglary conveyance to the victim’s 2019 White BMW 430i that was parked in the CVS parking lot. The front passenger side window smashed in, and a white prayer mat (value $10) was taken from inside the vehicle. No witnesses.
280 block of W Prospect Rd – Tuscan Villas
On May 14, 4/2020, two unknown males attempted to enter two locked vehicles that were parked side by side by pulling on the door handles. No property reported stolen. Latent Prints were not collected as the car was not on the scene. The surveillance video was emailed and uploaded.
5200 block of Gate Lake Rd. Villas at the Gate Condo
On May 14, BSO met with the caller who advised while he was away from his truck and trailer working, unknown suspect(s) broke the lock to his landscape trailer and removed several pieces of landscaping equipment.
Criminal Mischief
4900 block of E Sabal Palm Blvd. – Sabal Palm Village
On May 14, an unknown subject(s) filled the keyhole of the deadbolt and doorknob. No video or witnesses

On May 15, the victim discovered her vehicle vandalized. Including two smashed windows.
3800 W Commercial Blvd – La Quinta
On May 17, an unknown suspect(s) damaged the driver passenger door leaving two scratches on the driver passenger door. The area was canvassed with negative results finding surveillance footage.
Battery
5600 block of NW 47th Ln. – Mainlands
On May 14, the victim was attacked by his sister-in-law (offender) over his dog. Mcdermott, Linda Rose, 50, was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/Domestic Violence and transported to the main jail.
7425 N University Dr. – University Pavilion
On May 14, intake report stated a young male was bleeding and restrained for three days and had not been checked on, while in the hospital.
Domestic Disturbance
7800 block of NW 70th Ave
On May 12, girlfriend and boyfriend got into a verbal argument in which the girlfriend initially stated the boyfriend smacked her. She did not have marks or bruises supporting her allegation. She later recanted her statements.
4600 block of NW 58th Ct
On May 16, BSO responded to the above address or a domestic verbal disturbance between two parties.
Fire
5686 Rock Island Rd. – Sun Vista Apartments
On May 12, BSO met with the caller who advised his apartment was on fire, he stated that the fire started from the rear of the stove. Fire Rescue responded and put out the flames. The apartment is now uninhabitable. No injuries were reported.
7305 NW 65th St. Vanguard Village
On May 13, it is unknown at this time how the fire in a back bedroom started. Two victims died from the fire one at the residence, and the second one was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Homicide, Crime Scene, and State Fire Marshall responded.
6001 NW 61 Ave
On May 16, the condo had its kitchen stove catch on fire. The condo was filled with smoke, fire rescue arrived on the scene and ventilated the smoke out of the condo, and transported the injured resident who may have possibly broken his arm and inhaled smoke.
Fraud
3800 W Commercial Blvd – La Quinta
On May 14, the victim’s credit card was used to purchase a hotel room at the above location.
3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On May 14, the reporting person stated that the suspect listed on the report drove to the pharmacy drive-thru and attempted to get prescription medication with a fraudulent prescription script.
4500 block of Monterey Dr. – The Mainlands
On May 15, the victim received a fraudulent call, and suspect(s) came to the residence to take a debit card.
Between May 11 and May 16, the victim made payments to supposedly the “owner” of the residency above through the cash app and Zelle to move into the residence. “Owner” of the residence never got back with the victim after payments were made.
Information
7300 block of NW 57th Pl – The Mainlands
On May 13, Wayne Colbert was found in violation of his Electronic Monitoring House Arrest agreement. Pre-trial release supervisor was notified, an arrest warrant was issued based on this information. Wayne was subsequently apprehended at the Broward County Courthouse.
Lost Property
5881 N University Dr – Publix
Between May 9 and May 14, the complainant believed to have lost his wallet at Publix Supermarket.
6931 NW 88th – Walmart
On May 13, lost property found in Walmart parking lot and turned into District station.
Retail Theft
3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On May 13, a male subject entered the store, walked behind the counter and took several boxes of Newport cigarettes, and then left without incident.
3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On May 15, an unknown male suspect #1 stole three cases of beers from the store and left with suspect #2 in an unknown vehicle with a description of a white Chrysler or Dodge cruiser, and the tag is unknown. Surveillance footage was downloaded into a CD and submitted into evidence.
3150 W Commercial Blvd – Family Dollar
On May 16, the reporting person advised that two unknown heavy-set females entered the store and concealed 48 assorted items in their empty bags and then exited the store without paying for them.
Accidental Shooting – The Mainlands
On May 16, the victim advised he was going to clean his gun, and it accidentally discharged, striking him on his ring finger. He said there was no foul play. A deputy and sergeant went to his house and met with his wife, who confirmed his story.
Stalking
8411 Lagos De Campo Blvd – Sands Point
On May 16, the caller stated her ex-boyfriend was driving around the complex and threatening her via text messages after she broke up with him that morning.
8100 block of Pine Cir – Pines II at Woodmont
On May 16, on Stultz, John James, 43, was arrested on charges of Aggravated Stalking-follow. He sent 22 text messages to the petitioner’s phone, violating the temporary Injunction, when the final hearing was scheduled for May 16. He was also charged with violating an Injunction Protection Domestic Violence.
Theft
5447 N State Road 7 – Hock It To Me
Between May 8 and May 13, the reporting person advised of unknown person(s) attempting to steal the A/C unit from the business.
2401 W Commercial Blvd – Speedway Gas Station
On February 20, the reporting person advised that he wanted to report six delayed thefts of gasoline, totaling 1,352 gallons valued at 3,466 dollars.
7201 W McNab Rd- Stanford Construction
On May 15, 45, construction cones were taken from the sidewalk area along the roadway sometime during the overnight hours. Total Loss $2,025.
7300 block of NW 57th Dr – The Mainlands
On May 15, the victim states that a package containing a Macbook Pro was delivered to the wrong address by UPS. The recipient of the package then signed off for the package in the name of the victim.
Theft Motor Vehicle Parts
7050 N University Dr – Aldi’s
On May 12, unknown suspect(s) stole eight tires from a truck that was parked on the south side of Aldi’s.
Trespassing
10004 W Mcnab Rd – CVS Pharmacy
On May 16, Customer trespassed after causing a disturbance
