A virtual workshop is taking place for first-time homeowners to learn the steps to take towards their goal of ownership.
Attendees will explore resources available to first-time homebuyers to help make the dream both possible and more affordable. They will also discuss the steps of the home buying process, from down payments to closing costs.
Held on Wednesday, March 31, at 4 p.m., Tamarac’s District 1 Commissioner Marlon Bolton partners with Tamarac’s Housing Division, where residents will also learn how to qualify for up to $40,000 toward down payments and closing costs.
The workshop will cover the steps to claim this benefit, such as obtaining a mortgage from a lending institution, attending HUD’s eight-hour Homebuyer Education Workshop at a certified agency, income criteria, and maximum purchasing costs.
Guest speakers from HOPE Inc. will be in attendance to share how their organization fights housing injustice. Hope Inc. will also teach guests how to avoid becoming victims of housing discrimination.
