Dear Neighbors,

Summer is in full swing in Tamarac! Check out all the outdoor events happening this month.

This Independence Day, there’s double the fun for residents to enjoy America’s birthday. First up is the Patriotic Splash Swim Party from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Caporella Aquatic Complex, 9300 NW 58th Street. Come cool off by the pool and enjoy an afternoon of swimming, music, kid’s crafts, and more. Admission is $5 per person.

Then in the evening, our annual All-American Celebration honors Independence Day from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Tamarac Sports Complex, 9901 NW 77th Street. The event features a live performance by the ORIGINAL STUDIO 54 BAND, food trucks, a kid’s area with inflatables, face painting, and arts & crafts. The night’s grand finale is our beautiful firework display, which begins at 9:00 p.m. sharp. Bring your lawn chairs or favorite picnic blanket, and be sure to get there early, as parking is limited! For more information, please call (954) 597-3620.

As part of Tamarac’s 60th-anniversary celebration, the City of Tamarac is going to Party Like It’s 1963 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12th. This groovy shindig is a 1960s-themed dance party in celebration of the City’s founding year of 1963, complete with cake! You’ll want to bust out your favorite psychedelic tie-dye shirt and bell bottoms for this. Please note this event is for Senior Program members only and will be held at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd.

Come get your Zumba on at this month’s Move with the Mayor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14th, at the Tamarac Community Center Gymnasium. We’re having such a great time together, and we’d love to have you join us! Also, mark your calendars for next month’s Jazzercise class with Warren at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18th, at the Caporella Aquatics Pavilion, 9300 NE 58th St. Hope to see you there!

Please join us at our Tamarac Shines Bright Like a Diamond 60th Anniversary Bash from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19th, at the Tamarac Community Center. The event marks exactly 60 years since our fantastic City was founded by Kenneth E. Behring on July 19, 1963. I’ve enjoyed visiting Tamarac since 1978 and am so thankful to have moved here on July 4, 1994. It is a real privilege to participate in our City’s evolution! I’m looking forward to celebrating this Anniversary with you and enjoying the live music, dancing, light refreshments, and giveaways. Space is limited, so guests are asked to register in advance at Tamarac.me/Events.
