Welcome to October, a time when the nights grow longer and the weather begins to cool. We’ve got lots of fun activities for you and the family to enjoy all month long!

You must be a Tamarac resident experiencing financial hardship to qualify. For income guidelines and additional information, please call (954) 597-3626.

In Tamarac, our Parks and Recreation Department is putting a twist on the occasion by thanking you, our customers, for your business (See flyer attached). Please join us for light refreshments and facility tours between October 4th and the 8th at the following locations:

Our third Move With the Mayor event is on Saturday, October 9th, at the Tamarac Sports Complex (9901 NW 77thSt.). The outdoor event begins at 4:00 p.m. and features a free Hi-Low Aerobics class that’s sure to help boost our health and energy levels. Best of all, it’s open to everyone! Although it was rained out, thank you to everyone who attended the second Move with the Mayor event last month. I’m happy to share it’s been rescheduled for Friday, October 15th at 6:00 p.m. at the Caporella Aquatic Center Pavilion.
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us on Tuesday, October 12th between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center. Halloween in Tamarac is going to be double the fun this year with two exciting events! On Friday, October 22nd, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., the City will host its Drive-Thru Halloween Haunt at the Tamarac Sports Complex. Come by and get your goodie bags of treats and crafts and see which spooky characters you can spot as you make your way through the park!
Then, on Saturday, October 23rd, the fun continues at the Great Pumpkin Splash at the Caporella Aquatic Center. Come out from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to enjoy a day at the pool with games and music. Admission is $5.00 per person.
Up for a game of chess? The Mayors’ Chess Challenge comes to Tamarac from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 30th, at the Tamarac Community Center! Players of all ages and skills are welcome to this free event. I’ll be there, ready to play anyone looking for an easy challenger as I’m still learning.
Warm regards,
Michelle
