Tamarac’s Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek (TBTST) will host an interfaith commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. This free event invites people of all faiths to honor the victims of the Holocaust and reflect on its lessons.
The evening will feature remarks from Rabbi Rami Pavolotzky, Rabbi Daniela Szuster of TBTST, and Tamarac Mayor Michelle Gomez. Clergy from local churches, including Pastor Bob de Scipio of Hope for All Nations Church and Pastor Joseph Kim of the South Florida Global Methodist Church, will also participate.
Observed annually on January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day marks the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Established by the United Nations in 2005, the day serves to honor the six million Jews and millions of others killed during the Holocaust and to promote education and vigilance against genocide.
Rabbi Pavolotzky emphasized the importance of an interfaith gathering, stating, “We believe this day is an appropriate opportunity for an interfaith commemoration, where leaders of different faiths could provide inspiring messages.” Rabbi Szuster added: “We pray and hope that the young generations are able to educate their children with values of love, peace, respect, equality, and dignity. That we don’t hear acts of discrimination, violence, hatred and bigotry ever again.”
The program will include a dessert reception and will be held at Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek, 5700 NW 94th Avenue, Tamarac. RSVPs are appreciated. To RSVP, contact the synagogue at 954-721-7660 ext. 110 or email FrontDesk@tbtst.org.
