A former employee of a business was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pulling a handgun during a meeting with management, prompting the evacuation of employees.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records, the incident unfolded on January 10 at Dynamic Specialty Inc., a licensed trucking and transportation insurance wholesaler office located at 7134 West McNab Road in Tamarac.
The incident report details how a pre-scheduled meeting between a former employee, later identified as Mihai Enescu, 37, of Lauderdale Lakes, escalated into an all-out chaotic situation as two managers confronted Enescu regarding past comments he made about intending to resign.
According to the victims, during the meeting, Enescu reportedly pulled out a black handgun, waved it in the air, and pointed it at two managers. While the managers sat in fear, Enescu allegedly went on a rant, stating that he experienced anxiety and described himself as a psychopath.
The report claims that after several minutes, Enescu claimed that the firearm was a toy and was unloaded. The victims told deputies that it was at that time they requested he put the weapon away, to which he complied and left the building to sit outside and smoke.
The victims told law enforcement that once Enescu had left, they evacuated all employees to a nearby sister business and called 911.
Upon making contact with Enescu, responding deputies did not immediately find a firearm. However, he admitted to owning a BB gun, which he claimed was at his residence. Records show while being interviewed, a subsequent of his vehicle parked in the company’s lot revealed what appeared to be a black handgun in plain view on the back passenger seat.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were called to investigate, and Enescu was detained, arrested, and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he is being detained until trial.
