Oreo and Houston. {Humane Society Broward County}
Two lovable pets, Oreo and Houston, are searching for new homes after facing life changes that left them in need of a forever family.
Both are currently at the Humane Society of Broward County, each with a unique story.
Oreo (ID 687718) is an 11-year-old black-and-white cat who recently lost his home when his owner moved to an assisted living facility and couldn’t bring him along.
Weighing 14 pounds, Oreo may be one of the oldest felines in the shelter, but he still has plenty of love to give. He’s a calm, easy-going cat who enjoys napping and sharing stories when seeking attention.
While he’s getting used to shelter life, Oreo hopes someone will welcome him into their home, offering soft kitty toys and a cozy scratching post to relax during his golden years.
On the other hand, Houston (ID 686789) is a lively 3-year-old Labrador retriever mix with a lot of personality. His energy in the shelter might give potential adopters pause, but Houston promises he’s an entirely different dog outside the kennel.
He’s known for his quirky habits, including a strict bedtime routine and an amusing fear of leaves. Houston’s favorite things include listening to conversations, playing, and showing off his knowledge of commands. Though he’s friendly with other dogs, Houston admits he sometimes gets confused about interacting with them.
His ideal family would embrace his quirks and enjoy his playful spirit.
Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the Humane Society of Broward County’s website at www.humanebroward.com to complete a pre-adoption application to meet Oreo, Houston, or any other pet.
The shelter, located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale, opens daily at 11 a.m., and adoption visits require no appointment. The vaccine clinic operates six days a week, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
