Unleash the Fun at the Tamarac Pet Expo With Dog Parade, Food Trucks, and More

Get ready to wag your tails and purr with excitement at the upcoming “Furever Friends Pet Expo,” offering an array of activities and resources for pet lovers.

Hosted by Mayor Michelle Gomez, Vice Mayor Morey Wright, and Commissioner Elvin Villalobos on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tamarac Park, the Pet Expo is a rain or shine event, with plenty of tents to provide shade or shelter for the guests.

“Our pets give us unconditional love and joy. We are very excited to host this wonderful event and see the community come together,” said Gomez, adding that the Pet Expo is about sharing information and resources with pet owners and finding homes for cats and dogs from the local shelters.

Gomez said eight local animal rescue groups will have adoptable pets at the event, including Broward County Animal Care, Chesed Foundation Dog & Cat Rescue, Dalmatian Rescue SoFL, Good Karma Pet Rescue, GTS Husky Rescue, I Heart Animal Rescue, Furever Saved, and Animal Aid.

“We will have a red carpet and a dog parade, and pups and their owners can take photos at the Kissing Booth,” Gomez said, adding that the event also includes dog training sessions, an off-leash area with a pet relief zone, and a Pet CPR demonstration by the American Red Cross.

Attendees can receive vouchers for free rabies vaccines, microchipping, and spay/neutering from Broward County while supplies last.

DJ Danny and Ooopsy the Clown will provide entertainment, with Tamarac Fire Rescue’s Sparky the Fire Dog and Bluey, Broward Sherrif’s Office bloodhound K9, making an appearance. The event is catered by Kona Ice, BurgerFi, and One With Everything food trucks.

Gomez shared that the Pet Expo attracted 16 local vendors offering on-site pet services, pet food, and one-of-a-kind products. Among them are Moon Dog Bakery, Dog Training Elite Broward, Pompano Pet Lodge, Jaffee Pops, Scenthound Coral Springs, The Good Doggo & Co, Woofin Good Dog Accessories, and Marion Toms, a watercolor pet artist.

The city is accepting canned pet food donations and other pet items at the event for Tamarac’s pantry to help dog and cat owners in need. Gomez said the donations will also benefit the rescues and shelters presented at the Expo.

Tamarac Park is located at 7501 N. University Drive.
