The City of Tamarac invites the community to an evening of freedom and culture at the Juneteenth Celebration.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., featuring musical entertainment from the Valerie Tyson Band and LaVie.
The Valerie band delivers a soulful music set, gliding effortlessly from today’s Top-40 hits to smooth jazz, classic-rock anthems, velvet-rich R&B grooves, and laid-back reggae rhythms.
LaVie delivers herself a blend of soul and R&B. Click here to watch some of her live performances.
In addition to live music, the event will showcase a variety of cultural performances that highlight the Tamarac community’s rich heritage and diversity.
Juneteenth, also called Freedom Day, goes back to June 19, 1865, when the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation came to Galveston, Texas, freeing thousands of enslaved men, women, and children.
Held at the Tamarac Sports Complex at 9901 NW 77th Street. Entry is free for everyone. For more information, visit the Tamarac city website.
