With federal SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits set to decrease on November 1, Meals on Wheels South Florida has announced the launch of its Senior SNAP Relief Program to provide emergency nutrition support for affected seniors.
The initiative offers four weeks of meals—two deliveries of 14 dinners and 14 shelf-stable breakfasts—to eligible seniors who lose SNAP benefits. Applicants must meet standard Meals on Wheels South Florida criteria and provide documentation showing prior SNAP participation.
“We recognize the significant impact the SNAP cuts will have on many of our most vulnerable senior neighbors,” said Wendy Bourgault, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels South Florida. “Our goal with Senior Snap Relief is to provide immediate assistance to help our seniors continue to receive the nutrition they need while they navigate this challenging time.”
Seniors can apply at mowsoflo.org/seniorsnaprelief or by calling 954-714-6920. The program begins on November 1 and will continue as long as funding allows. Donations to support the effort can be made at mowsoflo.org/donate.
Founded in 1984, Meals on Wheels South Florida provides nutritious meals, wellness checks, and other essential services that help seniors live independently and with dignity.
