A Tamarac man was killed Monday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash on North Federal Highway, Boca Raton Police said.
The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. on August 18 along the 5800 block of Federal Highway, near Jeffrey Street.
According to police investigators, traffic was stopped in the northbound right lane when a 2014 Hino tow truck driven by Christopher Fazio, 53, of Boca Raton, failed to stop and slammed into the back of a 2010 Ford Escape.
The Ford, driven by Michaelangelo Dibari, 61, of Tamarac, was pushed into a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, which in turn struck a 2020 Jeep Cherokee, police said.
Dibari was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Two people in the Hyundai — including a 3-year-old passenger — were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Jeep driver and the tow truck driver were not reported injured.
The Boca Raton Police Services Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 561-982-4052.
