Health gurus tell us to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, but if you’re drinking fluoridated water, you’re increasing your risk of damaging your teeth, becoming hypothyroid, depressing your immunity, reducing your IQ, developing arthritis, developing osteoporosis, accelerating your aging process and of getting many other diseases, including cancer. Dean Burk, the former chief chemist at the National Cancer Institute has said that fluoridated water “causes more human cancer, and causes it faster, than any other chemical.”
Fluoridation is one of the greatest frauds of the 20th century. Fluoride is an extremely dangerous toxin, and most of us are now ingesting amounts that far exceed safety standards. Fluoridated water is used to irrigate produce, process foods and make beverages. Fluoride is particularly concentrated in breakfast cereals, and found in fruit juices, beer, soft drinks and soups. Many prescription drugs contain fluoride. We are encouraged to use fluoridated toothpaste, yet a 7-ounce tube of toothpaste contains enough fluoride to kill a small child. The EPA says no one should be getting more than 1 mg of fluoride a day, but the average American is getting about 7 mg! In 1982, Japanese scientists proved that even 1 mg can transform normal cells into cancer cells.
Adding fluoride to tap water has never been approved by the FDA. From the beginning, science and government have been corrupted by an unholy alliance with business as a way to solve a hazardous industrial waste problem. The problem was solved by sponsoring phony research linking fluoride with cavity prevention; getting rid of this toxic waste in tap water. Fluoride does nothing to protect teeth; it damages them. Scientists who questioned fluoride found themselves without jobs or grant money. Perhaps this is why Robert Carlton, Ph.D., a former EPA scientist, said, “Fluoridation is the greatest cause of scientific fraud of this century.”
What can you do to protect yourself? Invest in a home water treatment system that can remove fluoride from your drinking water. I use a reverse osmosis system. Avoid processed foods, especially breakfast cereals, fruit juices and sodas. Choose toothpaste that doesn’t contain fluoride. Take a mineral supplement to restore calcium and magnesium; choose one that includes boron, a mineral known for combining with fluoride and escorting it out of the body. Take antioxidants, like vitamins C, D and E, to reduce the oxidizing effects of fluoride. Make sure you’re not iodine deficient; it competes with fluoride. Fluoride bioaccumulates, meaning you can store more and more of it in your bones and other tissues over time. If you minimize the amount coming in and support detoxification, the good news is you can gradually release stored fluoride.
