Candidates running for local office in Tamarac in November must qualify for election this week.
The city’s qualifying period for the November 5, 2024 election runs from noon on Monday, June 10, until noon on Friday, June 14.
The two commissioners up for reelection in Tamarac, Elvin Villalobos and Marlon Bolton, have both drawn challengers.
In District One, Bolton is running for a third term. He was originally elected in 2016 and reelected in 2020.
Candidate records show that Bolton will face off against business owner Horatio Bryan and Tamarac Planning Board and Affordable Housing Advisory Board Member Viola Watson.
In District Three, Villalobos is running for a second term. He was originally elected in 2020.
Villalobos is being challenged for the seat by Krystal Patterson, a business owner and executive director of the West Perrine Community Redevelopment Agency.
