A former store employee was arrested in connection with a 2021 robbery at a Boost Mobile store.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest records show the woman, identified as Lyness Howard, 24, of Fort Lauderdale, was taken into custody on May 27 and charged with burglary and theft.
According to a warrant issued in February 2022 for Howard’s arrest, the incident occurred on November 13, 2021.
Surveillance footage of the robbery shows Howard—an ex-employee who had been recently terminated—entering the Boost Mobile Wireless Carrier Store located at 1412 North State Road 7 and using her employee code to access the key box.
Despite being a former employee, Howard could still access the store and proceeded to the break room where the safe was located.
According to BSO records that detail what is seen in the video, Howard entered the safe code and stole a cash bag containing $1,281. After she left the store, an unidentified Black male entered and went straight to the break room, taking numerous portable electronic communication devices worth over $4,000 from the safe.
The store’s owner identified Howard from the surveillance footage due to her large, distinct floral tattoo on her chest and the fact that she did not attempt to conceal her face.
BSO records show text messages sent by Howard to the owner on the evening of the burglary. In one of these messages, Howard allegedly boasted, “I robbed three stores last night tf outta here, and for them posting me, I’m suein.”
Following her arrest on May 27, Howard was transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $20,000 bond.
