Upon arriving at the Tamarac Community Center, you will see a large, colorful mural of the word ‘Love.’
City leaders and local artists want people to see this word and try to follow it.
Designed and painted by Cey Adams, the mural is among nine being placed in various locations in Broward County through a collaboration among the Community Foundation of Broward, Business for the Arts Broward, and Adams. Adams said the goal is to create love-themed murals that encourage unity among people.
“This is a multicultural area, and I want to encourage people here to love one another because we really need to lead the world with love,” said Adams.
The City of Tamarac celebrated the completion of the mural with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, and Mayor Michelle J. Gomez participated and spoke about the importance of love in the community.
“We are very excited that the Business for the Arts Broward selected Tamarac to be one of the nine locations across Broward for the ‘Lead with Love’ murals. We are very proud to be a multigenerational, multicultural city that is united through love,” said Gomez.
She said the mural will encourage the idea of love among people. “We thought the mural would be perfect on our community center facing Commercial Boulevard in the vibrant colors of our city logo,” said Gomez.
The ‘Lead with Love’ mural project runs from fall 2024 to 2027 and is a public art initiative to spread a message of love and unity across Broward County’s nine commission districts. The goal is to enrich and unify the community through the arts. The murals foster pride in each community by reflecting local identity and spirit, according to a statement from the Foundation, Business for the Arts, and the city of Tamarac.
The Community Foundation of Broward and Business for the Arts in Broward are the major sponsors for the project. The amount of money spent on the mural was not disclosed, according to a statement from the Foundation.

He is the founding creative director of Hip-Hop’s Def Jam Recordings. He co-founded the Drawing Board, the label’s in-house visual design firm, according to the statement.
