William Adam Lamkin {BSO}
A 10-year-old boy fled his Tamarac home to seek help after his mother was allegedly assaulted and told deputies of her attacker: “He will kill me; he’s a psycho.”
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, William Adam Lamkin, 45, of Tamarac, was arrested on July 14 and charged with resisting an officer with violence, domestic violence assault, and two counts of domestic battery, according to Broward County court records.
According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies were dispatched to the 9900 block of Red Heart Lane following a report involving the child. The boy’s father contacted authorities after receiving a call from his son, who said he fled the scene and someone was following him.
The child told deputies that his mother had returned home with bottles of alcohol before she and Lamkin started physically fighting. According to the affidavit, the boy said his mother told him Lamkin had threatened to murder her. Frightened, the child ran from the residence and called his father.
Deputies later found the woman standing outside the home and appearing shaken and afraid. She allegedly told investigators that Lamkin had repeatedly texted her while she was shopping at Publix, demanding that she return home.
When she arrived, Lamkin allegedly walked behind her vehicle and ordered her to go inside the residence. As she remained seated in the driver’s seat, Lamkin allegedly pushed her against the seat and punched her in the arm.
The woman told deputies that Lamkin warned he would continue punching her whenever she gave him an answer he did not like, the affidavit states.
Neighbors attempted to intervene, but Lamkin allegedly approached them and tried to fight them as well. The woman exited the vehicle to defuse the situation, and Lamkin eventually returned to the residence.
The woman and her son later went back inside, but Lamkin allegedly continued yelling. The boy again became frightened and ran from the home. His mother chased after him and found him climbing into a pickup truck near the community pool.
While deputies remained at the scene, Lamkin allegedly called and texted the woman several times, telling her he was returning. She allegedly told deputies to stay and expressed fear that he would harm her, telling them, “He will kill me, he’s a psycho.”
Lamkin arrived moments later and refused to provide deputies with his account of what happened, according to the affidavit. When deputies told him they needed to speak with him, he allegedly began walking away.
Authorities said Lamkin ignored verbal commands and assumed a fighting stance. Deputies took him into custody after what they described as aggressive resistance.
Tamarac Fire Rescue transported Lamkin to HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital for evaluation before he was taken to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail.
