A Lauderhill Subway restaurant was forced to close after a state inspection, triggered by a complaint, revealed multiple health code violations, including rodent activity.
A February 26 Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspection report conducted at the Subway located at 1375 Northwest 40th Avenue found nine violations. Among the violations were clear signs of rodent activity, with inspectors discovering nearly 100 rodent droppings throughout the establishment.
According to the report, approximately 30 rodent droppings were found under the cash register, while another 20 were inside an open cabinet near the register. More were located in a cabinet space under the cold prep line, on the floor and shelf near the make line closest to the window, along the back hall wall under dry goods shelves, near the triple sink, and by the soda syrup rack.
Inspectors also noted the presence of live small flying insects.
Additional violations included floors that were not properly cleaned, with food and dirt debris buildup along the entire back wall under the dry goods shelf, triple sink, and reach-in freezer.
The report also claims Subway failed to provide proof of required state-approved employee training for its workers.
Due to these violations, Subway was immediately ordered to close until corrections were made and a follow-up inspection confirmed compliance.
