Shalonda Walls {BSO}
A woman is accused of attacking a McDonald’s drive-thru worker after complaining that her order was taking too long.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies responded on June 9 to a 911 call reporting a burglary and battery at the McDonald’s at 8375 North Pine Island Road. Investigators said the confrontation began when a customer became upset while waiting in the drive-thru and complained that her food order was taking too long.
Law enforcement identified the suspect as Shalonda Walls, 43, of Pompano Beach. Investigators said Walls became involved in a verbal argument with a drive-thru employee that escalated into a physical altercation when she reached through the drive-thru window and punched the worker in the face multiple times. The employee attempted to defend herself, but Walls allegedly continued striking her, causing visible facial injuries.
Tamarac Fire Rescue treated the employee at the scene. Investigators noted in the report that the McDonald’s employee had serious swelling, bruising, and a laceration beneath her right eye that was bleeding when detectives arrived.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the restaurant and said it showed the suspect exiting her car, engaging in a heated argument, and reaching through the drive-thru window to strike the employee.
Later that evening, Walls returned to the McDonald’s and attempted to report the incident herself, according to investigators. Deputies took her into custody and said she provided a full confession regarding the confrontation.
Walls was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $15,000 bond.
