A man was arrested on hit-and-run charges after leaving the scene of a crash that left a victim seriously injured.
On Saturday, November 2, the Lauderhill Police Department apprehended a hit-and-run driver, later identified as Corinthan Lee Cavallaro, 22, of Fort Lauderdale, following a crash he allegedly had fled from that happened near the 3800 block of Northwest 19th Street.
According to the LPD incident report, Cavallaro faces multiple charges, including failing to remain at the crash scene, which resulted from his attempt to make an illegal U-turn.
The report shows the victim, who was traveling eastbound, could not avoid his SUV as it maneuvered into her lane, causing her vehicle’s front end to sustain significant damage.
The victim sustained multiple injuries in the crash, including a fractured forearm, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment by Lauderhill Fire Rescue.
Witnesses called 911 and reported that Cavallaro fled the scene, heading southbound behind nearby warehouses on Northwest 38th Avenue, and a search by multiple officers began.
LPD records show officers located Cavallaro’s vehicle at a nearby warehouse and observed it leaving the area before it was involved in a second accident at Northwest 16th Street and North State Road 7.
The SUV, missing its front bumper, was found off-road, and Cavallaro, the sole occupant, was taken into custody without incident.
Cavallaro was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
