Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through December 9. Names of those not arrested have been redacted.
Auto theft
8200 block of NW 61 Street
On December 4, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and then pulled the ignition out of it in an attempt to take the vehicle, but was unable to.
7200 block of Southgate Blvd – Southgate villas
On December 8, a deputy met with the caller referencing his Nissan Altima, which was stolen out of his driveway sometime overnight.
Baker Act
7701 Southampton Terrace – Southampton Guardhouse
On December 5, a 70-year-old male approached the guard and stated that he was kidnapped from a frat party and dumped at the location. The patient lives in the complex. He was unable to provide the date or the current president and was transported to University Hospital under the Baker Act for his safety.
Battery
5000 block of West Commercial Blvd – Central Park
On December 6, a female victim was involved in a physical altercation with a friend but refused to prosecute.
Burglary Business
5901 Madison Ave – Arrigo Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Sawgrass
On December 6, a suspicious person was seen on the video camera of the car dealership. An individual was observed underneath the hood of a vehicle at the business. The individual entered a vehicle and left the area, a felony stop was conducted, and the vehicle was found to be stolen with a stolen tag on it. The driver was identified as a convicted felon with possession of a firearm.
Burglary Conveyance
4700 block of NW 59 Street – Central Parc
Between December 4 and December 5, someone entered the victim’s Chevy Equinox and rummaged through the glove box and center console. No items were missing.
5600 block of Rock Island Road – Sunvista Condos
Between December 6 and December 7, someone entered the victim’s Chevy Impala and removed a silver/gold bracelet ($100) from the glove box and three gift sets from the trunk ($75). Latent prints were obtained.
8199 North University Drive – Walgreens
On December 7, an unknown suspect smashed out the front driver’s window and took a gym bag that was inside. The video surveillance was poor and could only make out a dark-colored vehicle, driven by an unknown suspect who pulls in front of the victim’s vehicle and goes to the driver’s door. The break-in and theft were unable to be observed in the video.
5300 block of NW 50 Terrace
On December 9, two vehicles were burglarized; one vehicle’s window was smashed out, and the second vehicle was left unlocked, but no items were taken from either vehicle. No latent prints were collected due to the condensation on the vehicles.
8200 block of NW 94 Ave – Spring Lake
On December 9, the victim reported an unsecured vehicle was ransacked.
Burglary Residence
10000 block of NW 70 Street
A man stole his mother and stepfather’s property from their residence while they were on vacation. His girlfriend pawned the items at Value Pawn and Jewelry located at 2001 N State Road 7. The items were a 55` Samsung 3D HD Television, PS3, and PS4. Both suspects are still at large.
Found Property
4017 West Commercial Blvd – 24 Hour Fitness
On December 5, the store manager of 24 Hour Fitness found a Silver handgun and a black BB gun inside one of their lockers open to their customers. The silver handgun was not reported stolen and was entered into safekeeping.
Information
6401 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On December 5, someone picked up all of the traffic cones used to block the sidewalk near construction and stacked them in the Walgreens parking lot. A pile of debris was also moved.
7600 block of NW 68 Ave
On December 5, the deputy made contact with the CPIS Investigator in reference to a check on children that were present during a domestic incident between their father and mother.
Petit theft
1004 West Mcnab Road – CVS
On December 7, an unknown male entered the store and left with merchandise passing all points of sale. He left in an unknown direction of travel, and a video of the incident was obtained.
Theft – all other
8233 North Pine Island Rd – The Dollar Tree
On December 4, the victim had her wallet taken from her purse while she was shopping at the Dollar Tree. One of the victim’s credit cards had already been used at an unknown location.
5755 North University Drive – Ross Dress for Less
On December 5, an unknown subject stole the victim’s wallet from her purse.
Theft – motor vehicle, parts
7770 NW 78 Ave – Woodmont
On December 6, an unknown suspect removed all four factory rims and tires off a Toyota Camry. The theft occurred in the parking lot, and there were no witnesses or other evidence at the time of the report.
8300 block of Sands Point Blvd
On December 6, an unknown suspect removed all four custom rims/tires from a resident’s Ford Taurus. The theft may have occurred in the morning.
Theft – Pickpocket
On December 5, a deputy was dispatched to make contact with the female victim at Publix Super Market, about a theft.
Theft – retail, shoplifting
4121 West Commercial Blvd – Publix
On December 4, the male suspect selected multiple items and concealed them, passing all points of sale and making no attempt to pay. He was charged accordingly and transported to Pompano Booking.
4121 West Commercial Blvd – Publix
On December 5, a subject entered the store, loaded up a shopping cart with groceries, and left without paying. The subject was confronted in the parking lot by a store employee, and some of the items were taken back to the store. The subject left in a Toyota Corolla.
6401 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On December 5, an unknown male suspect stole approximately 30 bottles of body lotion from the business.
3914 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On December 8, deputies received a call of delayed theft by two unknown suspects. The cashier called police after witnessing a female walk out with various packs of diapers and a Hallmark gift bag without paying.
