A 36-year-old Tamarac man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle toppled over into traffic on I-95, authorities said.
The motorcyclist, whose name was not immediately made public, was riding a 2020 BMW motorcycle north on I-95 near Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale when he “went down” for unknown reasons around 3 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Separated from his BMW, the man was struck by a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle being ridden by a 43-year-old Pompano Beach woman. The BMW became fully engulfed in flames, according to FHP, and the man was subsequently run over by unknown vehicles.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Authorities said the Yamaha’s rider, whose name was not made public, was separated from her motorcycle and suffered severe leg injuries.
The FHP investigation of the crash is ongoing.
