Residents who want to run or walk in monthly non-competitive 5Ks may consider joining the 5K Club.
The group had been known as Running on Tamarac. Mayor Michelle J. Gomez has chosen to rename the club to make it easier for people to remember. She will hold runs on the second Saturday of every month at Tephford Park at 10101 Southgate Boulevard. It is for people of all athletic abilities who want to participate in running and walking fitness activities.
“This will be good for people who want to participate in runs with good company. Some people like to run together in packs or buddy up with people they will meet at the park,” said Gomez.
On January 10, at 7:30 a.m., the 5K Club run will take place. Runners and walkers will meet at the western end of the park. A warm-up and stretching activity will begin at 7:00 a.m. The participants will complete two laps around the park’s track. There will be no charge to participate in the non-competitive run/walk, according to Gomez.
