Women from Tamarac and nearby areas will gather this month for a unique blend of baking, inspiration, and breast cancer awareness at the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac’s annual “Pink Challah Bake.”
The event, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at the center’s location at 8100 N. University Drive, invites women of all ages to mix, braid, and bake challah while learning about resilience, faith, and the importance of early cancer detection, according to the center.
Organizers said the evening is meant to bring the community together in a spirit of unity and empowerment, while also educating participants about prevention and cancer support resources.
“The Pink Challah Bake is so much more than an evening in the kitchen,” said Goldy Silberberg, co-director of the Chabad Jewish Center of Tamarac. “It’s a time to uplift one another, to celebrate hope and healing, and to remind ourselves of the importance of education and awareness.”
The program will feature guest speakers Stacy Lieberman, a Sharsheret Ambassador and BRCA previvor, and Deborah Litwak, Sharsheret’s Southeast Outreach Manager.
Both women will share personal stories and information about the national Jewish organization, which supports women and families affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
Each attendee will make her own challah to take home — a symbol of nourishment, connection, and blessing, organizers said.
“Every pink event that we’ve done touches hearts,” Goldy Silberberg added. “Whether someone has personally faced illness, supported a loved one, or simply wants to stand in solidarity — everyone leaves feeling inspired, informed, and part of something greater.”
The cost to attend is $25 per person or $180 for sponsors. Advance registration is required at www.JewishTamarac.com/JWC.
