A wanted man accused of attempted premeditated murder stemming from a November shooting of a woman has been arrested following a weeks-long investigation and manhunt by Lauderhill police.
According to Lauderhill Police Department records, Marcus Roach, 29, of Lauderhill, was taken into custody on January 30 and charged with a slew of charges, including attempted murder.
Records show Lauderhill police responded on November 16 to reports of gunfire in the area of the 3100 block of Northwest 2nd Street after a ShotSpotter system detected approximately 15 rounds fired.
Officers arriving at the scene made contact with the victim’s son, who told police his mother had been shot inside the home. The woman was struck once in the upper left leg and transported to Broward General Medical Center for treatment, investigators said.
Detectives later learned that an argument had taken place outside the residence earlier in the evening involving Roach, whom the victim reportedly knew for more than 17 years as a childhood friend of her son.
Investigators allege Roach returned to the area later that night and attempted to hide as he approached the property. As he rounded the corner onto the property, the victim’s son allegedly yelled that Roach had a gun, moments before shots were fired. The victim told detectives she was attempting to enter her home when she was shot.
Roach was taken into custody on January 30 at his home and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he is held without bond.
